"That is how I explained it: units should participate in calculation too. So, for a 3 in by 3 in square, the perimeter is 3 in + 3 in + 3 in + 3 in = 12 inches. The area is 3 in x 3 in = 9 in^2."

"I think this depends on the level of the students. If they are elementary level learners, basic concepts has to be mastered first. As a pure subject, math can be boring and lack direction, but this has to be done first to allow the young learners…"

"Start with clear and simple examples that don't require a solution but just an understanding. Then insert variables one at a time and make sure we aren't loosing their original clear understanding. Have a glossary of letters and symbols.…"
